Description
This original Soto Ayam cart artwork is inspired by the gerobak kaki lima, the street-food carts found throughout Indonesia. My father used to tell stories about the vendors calling out their dishes in the streets of old Batavia. Those memories stayed with me.
I drew the cart with fineliner and marker, paying attention to the signs, wheels and cooking equipment. It’s a small piece of everyday Indonesian culture, captured by hand on paper.
